What should I do if my Cash App account was hacked?
Report the payment in the app: Activity, select the payment, Report an issue. Contact Cash App Support from the app (profile icon, then Support) or at 1 (800) 969-1940. For unauthorized Cash App Card charges, Cash App's zero fraud liability requires you to tell them immediately and no later than 60 days after the charge appears. Never share your sign-in code or PIN.
Report it in the app
To report a payment:
- 1Open the Activity tab.

- 3Tap Report an issue and follow the prompts.
To report a scam account, open its profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Report or Block. Cash App says you may need to verify your identity.
Reach the real Cash App Support
Cash App says the best way is inside the app: tap the profile icon on the home screen, select Support and choose your issue. Its security page lists the phone number 1 (800) 969-1940, available daily from 8 AM to 9:30 PM ET. Use only these channels, not numbers from texts, social media or search ads.
What real support never asks for
According to Cash App, a representative will never ask for:
- Your sign-in code
- Your PIN, full debit card number, bank account details or Social Security number
- A payment to any account claiming to be Cash App or Cash App Support
- Installing a remote access app such as AnyDesk
- A “test” transaction of any kind
What support may ask to verify you
- Your legal name, email and phone number
- The last 3–4 digits of a linked bank account or card
- Cash App says it collects these through encrypted forms (Sprinklr and SendSafely)
Card charges: the 60-day rule
Cash App's zero fraud liability covers unauthorized Cash App Card charges if the card is lost, stolen or used without permission. Its terms require you to notify Cash App immediately, and no later than 60 days after the suspicious charge appears. Cash App to Cash App payments are different: they are instant and usually can't be canceled.
Turn on the extra protection
- Turn on notifications so you see every payment
- Turn on Security Lock; Cash App's security page says you can require your face, fingerprint or PIN to move money
- Lock your Cash App Card in the app if you think it's compromised
Frequently asked questions
Will Cash App refund money I sent to a scammer?
Cash App says Cash App to Cash App payments are instant and usually cannot be canceled; check your activity feed for a cancel option. Report the payment in the app right away. Card charges you didn't make fall under the zero fraud liability rule above.
Someone on Instagram says they are Cash App and can recover my money.
That is the pattern Cash App warns about: if someone claiming to be support asks for your code, PIN, a payment or a remote access app, end the conversation and contact Cash App only through the app. Cash App says its sweepstakes run on its official Twitter account and never require a sign-in code or PIN.

Can you get my Cash App money back?
No one outside Cash App can reverse a Cash App payment, and anyone promising that for a fee is likely running a recovery scam. We never ask for codes or PINs.
