In short
Where do I report a hacked account or online fraud in the UK?
Recover the account through the platform first. If you've lost money, the NCSC says to tell your bank and report it to Report Fraud, the UK's reporting centre for cyber crime; in Scotland, contact the police on 101. You can forward suspicious emails to report@phishing.gov.uk. We help with the platform side online and never ask for your password.
How it works from the UK
Everything happens online, so it doesn't matter where in the country you are. You tell us what happened on WhatsApp, we check which official routes are still open and tell you honestly whether we can help.
Identity checks, such as a video selfie or an ID upload, are always done by you on your own device. The platform makes the final decision about your account.
Where to start

- Facebook account or page taken over: recovery guide

- WhatsApp taken over after someone got your code: get it back yourself
Reporting cyber crime in the UK
These are the official channels:
- Report Fraud at reportfraud.police.uk: the reporting centre for cyber crime and fraud for people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
- In Scotland, report to the police by calling 101.
- Suspicious emails: forward them to the NCSC's Suspicious Email Reporting Service at report@phishing.gov.uk.
The NCSC's steps for a hacked account
The National Cyber Security Centre's guidance lists these steps: contact the account provider and follow its recovery process, check your email filters and forwarding rules, change the password on the hacked account and on any account that uses the same password, log other devices and apps out, set up 2-step verification, update your devices, warn your contacts, and check your bank and shopping accounts.
If an account can't be recovered, the NCSC suggests creating a new one and telling your contacts that you've abandoned the old account.
Reporting and recovery are separate
Reporting a crime and recovering an account are two different steps: the platform decides about the account through its own process. Start with the platform's official recovery pages, and report to the authorities when money was taken, you're being blackmailed or someone is using your identity to deceive others. If money was stolen or you're being threatened, also report it to the police.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to meet you in person?
No. Everything happens online, on WhatsApp. You never need to share your password or codes, and identity checks are done by you on your own device.
Is a recovery service that wants payment in crypto a scam?
Treat it as a serious warning sign. We never ask for upfront payment in crypto or gift cards, and our assessment is free. You can check a message with our scam message checker before you reply.
Should I report a hacked account to the police?
If you've lost money, the NCSC says to tell your bank and report it to Report Fraud, or in Scotland to the police on 101. For the account itself, use the platform's own recovery process as well.
Do you also help UK businesses?
Yes. Besides personal accounts, we help businesses with hacked Pages, restricted ad accounts and frozen payment accounts such as PayPal, Stripe and Shopify Payments, always through the providers' own processes.
