In short
How do I remove my phone number or address from Google?
Use Google's Results about you tool: add your contact details, review the results it finds and request removal. For ID numbers, bank details, private records or doxxing, use Google's form for private information. Removal from Google doesn't delete the page itself.
Option 1: Results about you, for contact details
Results about you looks for search results that show your contact details. Some features are only available to adults in certain countries; for people under 18, Google points to its detailed removal form.
- 1Open Results about you from the Google app menu or on the web.
- 2Enter your name and the details you want to find: phone numbers, home addresses and email addresses.
- 3Review the results Google finds and choose to request removal for the ones you want gone.
- 4Turn on notifications to hear about new results that show your details.
Option 2: Google's form for other private info
Google also accepts removal requests for confidential ID numbers, bank account or card numbers, images of your signature or ID, private records such as medical records, and confidential usernames and passwords. You will need the exact URLs of the pages.
The same form covers doxxing: your information shared with threats or calls to harass you, or a large collection of your personal info with no legitimate purpose.
What Google may refuse
Google weighs public interest. Results from government or educational sites, news outlets or business websites may stay, and newsworthy information may not be removed.
Removing from Google isn't removing from the web
Google can only take results out of its own search. The page stays online unless the website removes it, so you may also need to contact the site or, on social media, report it to the platform.
For intimate images shared without consent there is a separate process; see our guide to leaked photos.
Frequently asked questions
Will the result disappear completely?
Google can remove a result fully or only for searches that include your name. Either way, the page itself stays online until the website removes it.
How will I know if Google accepted my request?
Google says it sends an email when it removes a result. You can also review results on the Results about you page.
Can someone else ask for removal for me?
Google says that if the information is about you, you or a representative can ask for it to be removed.
